Karlyn Russell-Carlson is a data analyst, facilitator, and project manager who helps organizations figure out what their data is telling them—and what to do about it.
Based in Denver, Colorado, Karlyn works at the intersection of data, people, and organizational decision-making. She digs into complex information, spots patterns others may overlook, and translates findings into something leaders can actually use. Just as important, she knows how to present data without losing the people behind it.
Karlyn brings both rigor and practicality to her work. She asks good questions, challenges assumptions, and helps clients get clearer about what is happening inside their organizations before deciding what needs to change. Her facilitation style is approachable and engaging, making it easier for people to wrestle with complicated issues, examine the evidence, and have productive conversations about what comes next.
Her perspective is shaped in part by her work and study of racial equity, economic opportunity, housing, and the systems that influence people’s access to both. She has developed and led workplace equity and inclusion initiatives, facilitated employee discussion groups, and partnered with Macalester College on a speaker series connecting Black, Indigenous, and People of Color students with BIPOC Economics alumni.
Karlyn holds a master’s degree in City/Urban, Community and Regional Planning from the University of Colorado Denver and a bachelor’s degree in Economics, with a minor in Geography, from Macalester College.
As a Consulting Associate with The People Company Consulting Group, Karlyn helps clients get past assumptions and get closer to what the evidence actually says. Because better decisions don’t start with more data. They start with knowing what matters, asking the right questions, and being willing to act on what you learn.
